English Language Challenges

In the curriculum of my career I need study English in different levels, specifically in this year I study the final level of English (English IV) and I can explain my experience in this course.

I think that learn English is important for my work, and personally I like learn others language, so I feel that my experience was good. I could learn a lot because before entering university my English was really bad and don’t understand nothing of this language.

In my opinion the use of blogs helped me a lot to learn English, because you can start a communicated with different themes and give their opinion about them. My favorite post was when wrote about "A country I'd like to visit", I really liked investigating this topic!. Some classmates chose really beautiful countries and that they did not know.

I know that my English is not perfect, so the aspects that I need to improve are writing, because I forget the words and I do not remember how I write them and my communication with other people because I get very nervous and I do not speak very well. I believe that these problems can be solved if I study more the language, because the more I know words or ideas, the less problems I will have when communicating and writing.

Outside English class, I think the use of English is growing more and more, especially due to multiculturalism in Chile. In this country it is increasingly easy to meet people who speak English, an example is the same university with student exchange students.

Changes to my study programme

In the others post I have written about that I study architecture, but in any moment I wrote about the things that I don’t like, in this case, if I would make changes in my study program.

This is my curriculum:

In this university the curriculum was changed two years ago, but in my opinion some subjects could have small changes, for example, in Taller should be guide of evaluation, because many times you don’t know how the teachers evaluated you. Other change that would is that some subjects don’t have pre-requisite others subjects, because sometimes you study in the semester only one or two (subjects😓).

I think that the length of studies it´s ok, because all subjects are important and I could not eliminate any subjects, but the problem with the length of this career is the cost for study, in this moment $4.174.900 (is really expensive). I changed the cost, because the infrastructure is not good for pay all this money. The main problem is that the buildings are small for all students (in special for Taller where you need more space for work), and the space for work for example in your notebook, collapsing with students.

The teaching methods in this career in sometimes are not good, for example, again in Taller some teachers are really bad in explain the contents and this methods of evaluation, or simply not explain the subject the best form and don’t worry about all students understand. Maybe this problem It could be solved with better survey to students.

The holidays!

Well, in other post I was talking about that every summer I am going to Pucon, and in this holidays also I will go to Pucon because my family live in this place.

In this place I will go to near places to my house, because you can find rivers, mountains, forest in a small area. In this year I would like to visit a waterfall called “Los Tres Saltos”, the people say that this attraction is really beautiful,but I have not visit it yet. In my opinion all places in the south of Chile are unforgettable.

Near to my house there is a camping and a church so every summer know new people, in special for the church because always arrive campsite for one or two weeks, in my opinion is really enjoyable participate in the activities what they do, since you can learn more and know people of different place of Chile and the world. 

In this moment, I’m not sure about the activities that I would like to develop, but I probably see series with my cousin (we really like to do that), visit the camping near to my house because is relaxing listen to river and go back to taking the activities that I cannot do while study (my drawings and readings). I’m absolutely convinced that I does not matter what activity I do, I know I’ll have a good time being with my family.

Should Euthanasia or Physician-Assisted Suicide Be Legal?

Euthanasia has always been in controversy because of its large number of pros and cons that can be found, there are many medical and specialist publications on this subject, but I think the main problem arises when questioning to what extent the person has the right to decide about his own life.

The right of people to decide is extremely important but first I think we should take into account some points.

First, the people who made this decision are those who are under very great periods of suffering and stress, for example, when a person feels very bad (independent of the disease), the only thing that is sought is to end the discomfort faster as possible, without thinking about anything else.  In my opinion, support is extremely important, either from the family or from specialists in the subject, in addition to the fact that the quality of life can be improved if palliative methods are used for the disease.

Second, the thin line that crosses for people who want to take this option, for example, in Belgium the limit is removed, generating that anyone who thinks that their life is no longer good enough, can opt to this system. Support is the most important thing for all people, when someone goes through very traumatic or painful situations the assistance of specialists is essential.

To finish explained, I think that people will always have their right to decide what they find correct, but personally I think there may be different ways to cope with a serious problem that leads to that decision.

Post graduate studies

Actually, I only study for two years in the University of Chile (I still have 4 years left😥), but I would like study a postgraduate in sustainability, because I think that is really important have new ideas about how build in a friendly way with the Earth, in this moment, all have a problem with the contamination, so is necessary know others ways of design architecture.   

Some subjects that I would like are environmental management and climate change, economics of sustainable development, urban design and place making or regional planning policy. This areas are really interesting for me!. At Middlesex University London, they have subjects similar to those explained. "This course combines expert teaching with unique experiences of work in real environmental and conservation settings to develop your ability to evaluate the biological and social processes that underpin interactions between biodiversity loss and human society" (https://www.masterstudies.com/Biodiversity-Evolution-and-Conservation-in-Action/United-Kingdom/Middlesex-University-London/)

If I study a postgraduate, I would like study in other country, in this moment I don’t know which country, but could be Spain, London or Japan, because this countries are really different in his way for build and design architecture. I think that if you study in other country you can have more experience for your work, also you can know beautiful places. 

Relative to how I would like study, I think work for some years and later start to study again, because I would like focus on my studies, as I don’t know if I can work and study at the same, architecture is really demanding in my opinion.

Future job(s)

In this moment I study architecture but if you ask me about my future, I imagine that I graduated, and I start to work in an architecture office. I would like to work in the south of Chile (specifically Pucon), because the majority of my family live in this zone, besides the fact that I will be able to work indoor with amazing views. About the salary, I hope to earn enough money for work some years and later continue study other career, like graphic design or fashion design, because, is really interesting for me design things.  I think the most important thing is to always study what you like, especially because it's never too late to study.

I will like travel to others countries for know different cultures, and in this way to be able to apply what I learned in my job. Maybe, I to be able to study other career in other country (it would be great!). I want visit Japan or China and Italy, and then return to Chile to apply those new ideas.

After studying another career and traveling to other countries I would like to have my own company, that is, be an entrepreneur and be able to run my own company, because I really like the administration.

For these reason, I believe that in the future I will like work but more than this, I will be able to study.

My Hobbies

As far back as I remember, I have always liked the art, in special painting and creating things, for that reason in my house I have my space for keep my materials, like papers, crayons, fabrics, etc. My parents always tell me that since I was little I liked to draw in my school notebooks or magazines (I was just looking for a paper and a pencil and I could be happy for hours.)

I like to experiment with different styles, for that reason in this moment I paint in aquarelle when I have time (I am not paint really good but I like it) or work with gypsum, this material is really difficult but the results are beautiful, the last project in gypsum was make a copy footprint of a dog (believe me is really difficult keep still a dog when you try to make a mould  hahaha)

I think that drawing is very relaxing and fun, because you can disconnect from problems and just think about how to develop your imagination. It is also very nice when your friends or acquaintances ask you, for example, a drawing they keep for a long time.

I try in every moment that i can, but while I study my time is really short for recreational activities, however, in my holidays I draw or paint all day hahaha
